TubeShaper

Created specifically for the Absolute Arm, TubeShaper brings user-friendly inspection to the tube manufacturing sector.

Designed to maximise production efficiency and reduce scrap, features such as offline licensing, direct import of CAD models and an intuitive modern graphical interface allow tubes to be designed, checked and corrected with speed and precision. Direct connection to a wide range of CNC tube bending machines from the market s leading manufacturers ensure that bending corrections are applied in real time on the shop floor.

Offering a state-of-the-art user interface, TubeShaper enables you to fully harness the measurement power and versatility of the Absolute Arm for all tube inspection applications. Non-contact tube probes allow even soft rubber tubes to be measured, while tactile probes can also be used to reverse engineer or inspect complete tube fixtures. Uniquely, TubeShaper also allows for measurement of rectangle-section tubes.

TubeShaper is the product of over three decades of experience in tube inspection and was developed in close collaboration with some of the world s leading tube manufacturers. Tube measurement software has never been so complete.

TubeShaper

Specialist software for tube measurement, gauging and bending machine control

Bending machine interface
Real-time direct interface to CNC tube benders enables correctional data to be calculated and applied in real time, streamlining operations and almost completely eliminating scrap. Multiple bending machines can be supported by a single seat of TubeShaper with additional bender licences.

Tube probe and touch probe measurement
Users can swap between tube probes and touch probes on the fly inside the same TubeShaper session, without any need for recalibrations – ideal for checking complete tube assemblies, where the positions of welded flanges and brackets are fundamental to the quality of the part. The touch probe also allows for measurement and alignment of tube fixtures, allowing you to create a "virtual fixture" that replicates the original but does not require maintenance or storage in a warehouse.

CAD data import and export
Models can be imported into TubeShaper in all major CAD formats as standard. For reverse engineering applications, all measured data can be exported as an IGES or SV file (tube only).

Total spring-back management
Preloaded tube projects supplied as standard in TubeShaper enable easy calculation of spring-back and elongation values. These are saved in an easy-access library for application to other tubes, reducing the number of design iterations.

Rectangle-section tube measurement
Tubes with a rectangular cross-section are easily handled by TubeShaper using a standard non-contact tube probe, including reverse engineering and bending machine

Measurement plans for rapid batch measurement
Every time a new tube is measured it is automatically saved as a measurement plan which can be run later at any time. Measurement plans can also be defined offline prior to measurement, reducing disruption on the shop floor and guaranteeing accuracy and repeatability.

Automatic report creation
Measurement reports can be created automatically enabling you to monitor bender performance over time and spot problems on the shop floor before they become critical.

Customisable report formatting
Drag-and-drop tools allow you to create customised and branded reports to ensure the report data is displayed exactly as you need it.

Tube sketching function
Quickly and easily create a first tube by simply digitising points with the touch probe, even if no physical tube is present. Ideal for creating aftermarket parts.

In-bend measurement
TubeShaper supports in-bend measurement, allowing greater accuracy when measuring deep and shallow bends.

User profiles
TubeShaper is designed for two types of user – those who need full functionality and those who need speed – so the software has two different interfaces. The Engineering Interface allows full access to all functions, while the Shop-floor Interface allows access to the main software functions via a simplified user screen that has large icons for touch screen use.

Intuitive graphical user interface
Created to speed up operations with minimal training, TubeShaper has been carefully designed to guide the user to the most important functions with the absolute minimum of mouse clicks. Navigating messy drop-down menus is a thing of the past. TubeShaper is also compatible with Windows 8.1 touchscreens.

Fast reverse engineering
Without the complex point clouds or scan data created by laser scanning, TubeShaper can output CAD-compatible measurement data for reverse engineering applications in minutes rather than hours.

Legacy system compatibility
TubeShaper can run on any Absolute Arm as well as the previous generation ROMER Infinite and ROMER Stinger models. The software can also import and run files from Supravision, G-Tube and DOCS tube inspection platforms to ensure seamless upgrades of existing systems.

Offline software licences
An offline TubeShaper licence allows for complete functionality of the software without the additional expense of connecting to an arm or tube bender. This is an ideal way to reduce investment costs for departments with many users who need to share measurement plans or results across different locations.
